Old George was a regular in The Drovers’ Howff for almost half a century. He was a much loved character, who like nothing better, than to sit at his regular table in the corner, by the roaring fireplace. Passing the time chatting away to his buddies, and always making sure to give a good ‘Drovers’ welcome to travelers who happen to be stopping off for the night. Always with a wee half of his favourite malt close at hand.
Sadly, old George’s last orders at the bar came long ago. He loved his Drovers pals so much, his dying wish was that an urn of his ashes be kept at his favourite place just next to the fireplace. So he can be close to where he loved most in his life.
Over the years, many guests on leaving, have commented in the guestbook how welcoming the people they have met are. In particular, the friendly old gent, who sits at the table in the corner, who tells lovely stories about days gone by and the history of The Drovers Inn.
